Elkhorn Golf Club
 
Eligibility:
Clinics are available to any boy or girl who is at least 7 years of age and has not reached their 18th birthday by July 30, 2013. Juniors under the age of 7 may petition the EJGA Committee for acceptance. All juniors above the age of 9 and under the age of 18 qualify for the Elkhorn Junior Golf Program. There will be maximum of 100 applications accepted for the 2013 season.
We also offer Annual Junior Memberships for Elkhorn Golf Club which, includes unlimited golf Monday thru Friday and after 12:00 pm on Saturday and Sundays for Just $100.00. Please ask the Pro shop for more details!
 
Goals:
The goals of the Elkhorn Junior Golf Program are to establish a junior golf program that stimulates interest in golf from the youth of the greater Stockton and Lodi areas. Through involvement in the program, participants will learn sportsmanship, etiquette, the rules of golf, and experience competition in a fun and proactive environment. Most will improve their golfing ability; all will be given the opportunity to learn a sport that is based on Honor, Integrity, and History.
 
Ability Groups:
            The following is a breakdown for all ability group competition; The committee reserves the right to alter the competitive ability groups after the member applications are studied for age composition according to their playing ability and golfing experience.
           
            18 Hole Blue…. Break 83 for 18 Holes from White Tees, twice
            18 Hole White…Break 48 for 9 Holes from White Tees, twice
            9 Hole White…..Break 45 for 9 Holes from Gold Tees, 3 times
            9 Hole Gold……Break 54 for 9 Holes from the Red Tees, 3 Times
            9 Hole Red…….Break 50 for 6 Holes from the Red Tees, 3 Times
            6 Hole Red…….Break 30 for  3 Holes from 150 yards, 3 Times
            3 Hole 150 yards..Break 36 for 3 Holes from 100 yards, 3 Times
            3 Hole 100 yards..Must complete Level One Booklet, US Kids Program
 
To have Playing Privileges Juniors must be Elkhorn Golf Club Members.

EJGA Championship

            The Elkhorn Junior Golf Association Championships are held at the end of each season to determine each playing ability group champion, as well as the overall Junior Club Champion. The 18 Hole Blue and White ability groups will play three rounds of stroke play and count the two lowest scores for the overall Junior Champion. All other playing groups will participate in a three round stroke play championship using two of the best three scores to determine champions.
 
Performance Points:
            Each member of the EJGA will be given the opportunity to each earn “Performance Points” throughout the season, through weekly questionnaires on the rules of golf and etiquette. Weekly performance points will help encourage members of the EJGA to participate in all weekly events provided, as well as, have their golf rules and etiquette improve, and they will enhance the enjoyment of the game of golf for the EJGA members.
 
Point Accumulation:
  • Attending optional rules and etiquette seminars……………….…….3 points
  • Winning playing ability group championship……………………..…5 points
  • Winning weekly events……………………………………………....3 points
  • Advancing within playing ability groups………………………….…5 points
  • Completing a learning level…………………………………………..5 points
  • 18 Hole Blue Group-Shooting a target score of 75…………………...3 points
  • 18 Hole Blue Group- Each Stroke below score of 75………………...1 point

Point Deductions:
EJGA Member will forfeit all points accumulation for that day:
  • Failure to turn in a completed, signed and attested scorecard…………-5 points
  • All infractions defined by the committee to be major…………………-5 points
  • Failure to cancel Tee Time……………………………………………..-5 points
  • All infractions to be defined by the Committee member……………….-1 point
 
Behavior Infractions:
            Club throwing, showing disrespect toward EJGA instructors, of fellow members, quitting your stipulated round without proper excuse, and swearing are deemed major infractions and will result in suspension from next scheduled EJGA event and possible loss of eligibility from the EJGA Championship.

It may also result in termination from the EJGA.

 
Tee Time/Cancellation Policy:
            All EJGA members who need to cancel their tee time must contact the Golf shot at 474-3900 a minimum of at least one-hour prior to their tee time. Otherwise, those players who fail to cancel and/or show up for their tee time will result in a five (-5) point reduction from their yearly total.
 
Note: Junior’s must schedule their starting time in order to play. Those players showing up without a scheduled tee time will only be allowed to play (based on availability) but will not be eligible for that days points. Players are encouraged to contact the Golf Shop early in the week to schedule their tee time. Please let the golf shop know what playing ability group you are in.
 
Code of Conduct:
            The EJGA, in its efforts to teach sportsmanship and encourage enjoyment of the game, adopts the following code of conduct as developed by the Junior Golf Association of California (JGANC).
  1. Conduct becoming of the true sportsmanship is to be nurtured at all times. Conduct such as replacing divots, raking bunkers, repairing ball marks on the green, removing and replacing the flagstick back into the hole so as to not cause damage to the hole or the green, and keeping the course clean of waste, bottles and paper.
  2. Consideration of other player’s rights by standing still, not talking or standing too close while other players are making a stroke.
  3. It is player’s own responsibility to be ready to play when it’s their turn. To keep up with the group in front of them, but taking time to make sure not to play a shot until those ahead are out of range and to complete their round in a reasonable amount of time.
  4. Violations in the code of conduct could result in suspensions from the EJGA and will be immediately removed from the golf course. Major violations include cheating, swearing, club throwing and purposely hitting into the group in front of you.
Note: Parents will not be allowed to caddy or give advice to any competitor during any stipulated rounds of golf. They may be a spectator in accordance with JGANC regulations, which requires a twenty-five (25) yard minimum distance from the competitors at all times, all spectators must remain on cart path at all times. The parents/adults violating this policy could disqualify the junior from that round.
 
Dress Code for Juniors/ Adults:
Boys-
Examples of acceptable attire for male golfers: pullover or button down collared golf shirts, mock turtle necks shirts, slacks, shorts with a 5” inseam length and hemmed or knickers. Full-sleeve crewneck sweaters or sweatshirts and leisure tops are acceptable.
Examples of unacceptable attire: Any cutoff shorts of any kind, bathing trunks, jogging or racing trunks, tank tops, bare chests and underwear type tee-shirts.
Girls-         
Female Golfers should also be clothed in the following acceptable fashions: blouses, slacks, shorts or skirts, with a 5” inseam and hemmed.
Examples of unacceptable attire: Any cutoff shorts of any kind, short shorts (less than a 5”inseam, spaghetti straps, tank or halter tops, bare backs, chests and midriffs, mesh tops, running shorts and swimming attire. Halter-tops, having straps less than 1” wide and sleeveless opening greater than 6” are not allowed.
Note: Golf hats are encouraged to be worn properly, forward on the head, not backwards or sideways.
 
Permitted Play:
      Daily hours of play for Elkhorn Junior Members:
Weekends after 12:00pm
Note: Restricted times are not enforced if Elkhorn Junior Member is playing with another Elkhorn Golf Club Adult Member or Adult paying guest.
 
Awards:
William Carlisle Award- EJGA Committee decision. Most improved golfer throughout season
Earl Betrand Award- Most accumulated Performance Points.
Ty Caplin Award- EJGA Committee decision.
George Allen Award- Staff decision. Awarded to the volunteer of the year for the program.
